May 3, 2017: Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport, launched the Vehicle Online Validation System at the Ministry’s Headquarters today.

This latest offering is part of the Ministry’s thrust to modernize operations at the Licensing Division and will provide the public with 24 hour access to specific and unique information on all registered vehicles in its designated database.

Access to information will only be available when a user provides the vehicle’s license plate number together with the engine or chassis number.

Delivering the Feature Address, Minister Sinanan reiterated that the new system in no way replaces an official certified copy of vehicle registration. However, this new service will provide a free and alternate method of quickly checking unique vehicle information in various scenarios.

Examples of situations in which the Vehicle Online Validation System may assist include when:
 An owner needs to a verify transfer or prove ownership
 A third party needs to verify ownership
 A previous owner needs to confirm a transfer
 A finance institution needs to verify ownership
 An auto industry repair professional needs to provide ownership before performing modifications
 An insurance institution needs to verify ownership or capture change of registration particulars.

The Ministry anticipates that this system will bring considerable convenience to the public and improve the cadre of services available at the Licensing Divisions across the country.
