November 7, 2017: The Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB), through the Ministry of Planning and Development, together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will host an information event on Wednesday November 8th 2017 from 7:30 am to 11:30am themed “Promoting Innovation for Diversification: Moving Forward” at the Trinidad Hilton and Conference Centre.
This event is intended as a follow-up to the Consultancy on Technological Foresight which was facilitated by the IDB and concluded in August 2017, as well as the Innovation Conference hosted at the UWI St. Augustine in June 2017.
It is intended to apprise participants of the following:
- The details of the National Innovation Policy which has now been approved by Cabinet,
- The next steps in the implementation of the National Innovation Policy,
- The results of the Consultancy with all participating stakeholders, and most importantly,
- Proposals to sustain the goodwill and enthusiasm which was demonstrated by all stakeholders during the consultancy exercise.
The Government of the Republic Trinidad and Tobago places great importance on innovation as a critical enabler of the diversification agenda. These initiatives are succeeding in generating energy and interest in innovation and diversification among the various stakeholders in T&T. Valuable synergies are being produced, which help to coalesce efforts and improve the chances of long term success.
