The Ministry of Works and Transport urges members of the public to avoid commute along the North Coast Road where possible, as persistent rainfall continues to result in landslips in the area, and intermittent closures of the road.
The Ministry continues to deploy the necessary teams to assist in the clean-up of debris and rubble from the landslips, as a short term measure that will ensure that the road remains passable to motor vehicle traffic.
Senator the Honourable Karim Hosein, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, and acting Minister of Works and Transport visited the North Coast Road earlier today with Mrs. Sonia Francis-Yearwood, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Transport and a technical team from the Ministry to assess the state of landslips in the area, as well as the preventative measures that will be deployed during the dry season.
