The Ministry of Works and Transport is advising that North Coast Road near the Maracas lookout is currently impassable as the slopes came down again last night/early morning. As such please avoid commute to the area unless absolutely necessary. We advise you to also share this information with others in the interest of public safety. The MOWT crews will be on site this morning to re-establish an open lane as soon as possible.
The Chief Engineer of the San Juan/Laventille Corporation has confirmed that four excavators are currently on the site clearing the landslide. Local residents would be allowed to pass, however the roadway will remain closed to the general public.
