April 20, 2016: Opening night at the Tobago Jazz Experience usually provides a big thrill and “Jazz in the East”, held in Speyside on Saturday, April 16 delivered.

There were performances by crowd favourite David Rudder and soca stars Farmer Nappy, Patrice Roberts and Benjai.

The event is put on annually by the Division of Tourism and Transportation.  Division Secretary, Tracy Davidson-Celestine said the week-long event is popular because it brings together a rich musical experience and the natural beauty of Tobago.

“Over the years the Tobago’s Tourism was based main only Eco- Tourism, with visitor attraction such as our enticing beaches, Nylon Pool, coral reefs, forests and waterfalls amongst other things taking centre stage,” Davidson-Celestine said.

“…The focus diverted the minds of everyone to those areas until event enthusiasts understood that events and tourism go hand in hand.”
