26 Social Welfare Advisers receive appointment letters on World Social Work Day

As the world celebrates World Social Work Day twenty-six (26) Social Welfare Advisers were presented with their appointment letters from the Public Service Commission at the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services. World Social Work Day (WSWD) is annually observed in March. This years’ theme ‘Promoting community and environmental sustainability,’ relates to the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development.

 In a brief ceremony at the Ministry’s Head Office, St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain, the executive team comprising, Permanent Secretaries, Mrs Jacinta Bailey Sobers, Natasha Barrow, Acting Chief Technical Officer, Vijay Gangapersad, together with Acting HR Director, Taramati Samaroo and Acting Deputy Director, Social Welfare, Troy Pollonais, welcomed the newly appointed officers. They all expressed words of encouragement, gratitude and recognition for their selfless service towards national social development.

“Thank you for your dedication, commitment and labour of love despite the many challenges you face in carrying out your duties,” PS Bailey-Sobers stated as she reminded them that they, “…are the heart of the Ministry where everything happens; you face the clients and deal with all the social issues, and you are still here with us.’ She expressed her gratefulness to the Public Service Commission in finalising the appointments.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services wishes to congratulate these newly appointed Social Welfare Advisers and acknowledges their sterling contributions to the vulnerable and indigent in our society and by extension, the development of our valuable human resources.
