April 2, 2016: The Prime Minister, Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley, left today (Monday 2nd May) for several official engagements abroad. Addressing the media in the VIP Lounge, Piarco, prior to his departure this morning, he briefly outlined the itinerary of his overseas visit.
First on the travel agenda will be this Government's participation in the US-CARICOM Energy Security Summit in Washington DC, which will led by US Vice President Joe Biden. While in the US, the Prime Minister will also hold discussions with the US Business sector to encourage further investment in Trinidad and Tobago. Before leaving the US, the Prime Minister will give the keynote address at the Medgar Evers College inaugural international education awards ceremony.
The Prime Minister then travels to London for high level talks with BP executives.
An invitation from the President of Ghana takes the Prime Minister on an Official Visit to Ghana, where Dr Rowley and his delegation will engage in discussions regarding technical and other assistance to that country, as they seek to develop their hydrocarbon industry, using the Trinidad and Tobago energy sector as the developmental model.
Following the visit to Ghana, the Prime Minister and his delegation return to London to participate in the Anti-Corruption Summit hosted by UK Prime Minster, David Cameron.
Finance Minister, the Honourable Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister while Dr Rowely is out of the country.
