The Ministry of National Security’s National Crime Prevention Programme, Chaguanas Community Crime Prevention Council (CCPC) is avidly getting down to business and recently held its second meeting at the Chaguanas Borough Corporation on Monday 3rd September, 2018.
Chairman of the CCPC, His Worship Alderman Gopaul Boodhan, Mayor of Chaguanas, thanked his burgesses for volunteering to be members of what he described as an exciting new initiative, to make the Chaguanas Borough the most secured community in the country.
Also in attendance at the meeting was the Parliamentary Secretary, the Honourable Glenda Jennings-Smith, of the Ministry of National Security, who addressed the CCPC members and volunteers. She reiterated that the purpose of the Programme is to promote crime prevention by influencing a change in attitudes, behaviours and culture that contribute to criminality. Mrs. Jennings-Smith also noted that the Minister of National Security, the Honourable Stuart Young, underlined the fact that the CCPC must engage young people in the community and get them involved in the crime prevention process.
In addition to the Borough of Chaguanas, the National Crime Prevention Programme has commenced operations in Diego Martin and in Tobago.
