
In accordance with the rotation schedule of the Caribbean Constituency at the Inter-American Development Bank Group, Mr. Selwin Hart (Barbados) was appointed to the position of Executive Director for the Caribbean Constituency at the Inter-American Development Bank for the period July 1st 2018 to June 30th 2020.
In an effort to ensure that the Caribbean Constituency Office works effectively on advancing the interests of its members, Mr. Hart is currently visiting all Constituency Member counties during the period September to November 2018.
Accompanied by Ms. Ayleen Alleyne-Ovid, Counsellor for Trinidad and Tobago at the IDB, Mr. Hart made a visit to Trinidad and Tobago from September 25th-26th 2018. During their two-day visit, they met with the IDB Country Representative, Ms. Rocio Medina-Bolivar and members of the IDB Country Office Team, had a site visit to the Multi-Phase Wastewater Rehabilitation Programme - Malabar Wastewater Treatment Facility, and concluded with a meeting with the Minister of Planning and Development, the Honourable Ms. Camille Robinson-Regis, in her capacity as Governor of the Inter-American Development Bank for Trinidad and Tobago.
The discussions with the Minister and her team were centred on the priorities of the Government and the wider Caribbean region, accountability of the office to the Governor and exploring alternative funding instruments which may be available at the IDB for development support to the region. The Executive Director provided the assurance that the Caribbean Constituency office is actively working on improving communications with Governors on the one end, as well as actively seeking to advance the interests and priorities of the member countries with the management of the Bank on the other end.
