T&T nominated for eight travel awards

Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) and Coco Reef Resorts & Spa are two of Trinidad and Tobago’s nominees vying for awards in the World Travel Awards (WTA) Caribbean Awards 2019.

WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Caribbean Airlines was nominated for two awards – the Caribbean’s Leading Airline, which the airline has won annually since 2010 and the Caribbean’s Leading Airline Brand , which it has won for the last two years.

Coco Reef Resort & Spa was nominated for the Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Award 2019, having won the award for the last 15 years.

Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to win five other awards:

Caribbean’s Leading Airport 2019 – Piarco International Airport, which has been won by Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport for the last nine years.

The port of Port-of-Spain was nominated for the Caribbean Leading Cruise Port Award. The Port of Ocho Rios, Jamaica has won that award for the past ten years.

The other three awards T&T has been nominated for are:

·    Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination 2019

·    Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Destination 2019, and

·    Caribbean’s Leading Resort 2019.

Participants for the WTA Caribbean Awards were required to submit their nomination forms and a registration fee of $631 USD.

Online voting started on Tuesday December 11, 2018 for travel professionals and consumers and will end on Thursday January 10, 2019.

Winners are expected to receive their awards at the WTA’s Caribbean & North American Gala Ceremony scheduled to take place at Sandals Montego Bay, Jamaica on January 28, 2019.
