The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education says cheques have been made available to the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) for the payment to maxi taxi operators for the month of September, 2018, as was promised during a news conference on Tuesday 8th January, 2019. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to ensure the balance of monies for the months of October, November and December, 2018 are paid by the end of the week.
Minister Anthony Garcia and Senior Executives of the Ministry of Education met with representatives from the Public Transport Service Corporation and the Maxi-Taxi Concessionaires Association and discussed issues affecting the prompt payment to these operators who provide transport for school children.
Following the meeting, both PTSC General Manager, Bashir Mohammed and President of the Maxi-Taxi Concessionaires Association, Rodney Ramlogan expressed gratitude to Minister Garcia and the Ministry of Education for the meeting which identified ways to improve the overall payment system.
