Partnering Today for a Better Tomorrow - Ministry Collaborates

May 10, 2016: Friday 29th April, Brian Lara Recreation Grounds, Santa Cruz, marked the conclusion of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services' partnership with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service of a series of outreaches which were held at Brasso Seco, Morvant and the San Juan Promenade respectively. These outreaches, which strategically targeted these communities, were aimed at restoring public confidence, targeting crime prevention, strengthening and empowering communities, cultivating proactive awareness, andaddressing social problems within the community while promoting the necessary services to assist with the alleviation of these problems.

At Friday’s Outreach, in addition to information provided by the Ministry, residents of the community who participated in the event received information and services from the North/West Regional Health Authority, the Rape Crisis Society, key crime prevention units within the Police Service, the Civilian Conservation Corps, NALIS and Arrive Alive. Scores of Primary school students from the Santa Cruz community were also treated to a number of activities including horse-back riding and paper craft.

The Ministry was represented by several divisions including its HIV Awareness Unit, National Social Development Program (NSDP), the Targeted Conditional Cash Transfer Programme (TCCTP), National Family Services and the National Poverty Reduction and Eradication Programmes Co-ordinating Unit (N PREP-CU).
