Social Workers from the Ministry’s National Family Services and Social Welfare Divisions lent support on Friday 29th March, 2019 to the North Central Regional Health Authority’s Department of Social Work’s World Social Work Month commemoration. The event was held in the main foyer of the Eric William Medical Sciences Complex and saw many persons participating in the booths and activities provided.
World Social Work Day (WSWD), commemorated this year on March 19th celebrates and recognises the achievements of the social work profession.
Given the WSWD theme ‘Promoting the Importance of Human Relationships’ and the Ministry’s mandate to promote its programmes and services to help empower and transform the lives of the vulnerable in society, the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services welcomed the invitation and was proud to participate in such an event.
Representatives from the Social Displacement and Communications and Education Units were also available to provide information on services for socially displaced persons. Material on services provided for the elderly under the Division of Ageing, Geriatric Adolescent Partnership Programme, Retiree Adolescent Partnership Programme and on assistance for minor house repairs, improved water supply and house wiring under the National Social Development Programme (NSDP) was also made available.
Other supporting organizations included the ParentingTT, ChildLine, Choices, and National Organ Transplant Unit.
