Housing and Urban Development Minister the Honourable Ret. Major General Edmund Dillon toured sites in East Trinidad that have been selected to be a part of the Ministry’s ongoing Award Winning Housing and Village Improvement Programme (HVIP). The tour comprised visits to sites in Valencia, Sangre Grande and Rampanalgas where there are housing units being constructed. Accompanying Minister Dillon on the tour was the Honourable Glenda Jennings-Smith - Member of Parliament for Toco/Sangre Grande, Mr. Terry Rondon – Chairman of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation and Mr. Hazar Hosein – CEO of the Land Settlement Agency (LSA).
Minister Dillon was quite impressed with the progress of all the sites and applauded the efforts of the future home owners who are providing ‘sweat equity’ in the construction of their homes. He said, “this is a worthwhile project whereby the homeowners are not only getting a new home but they are also learning skills which can assist them in the future.”
