Minister of Education Anthony Garcia and Minister of State in the Ministry of Education Dr Lovell Francis stand by the statements made by the Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh surrounding the vaccination and immunization of children across Trinidad and Tobago. Misinformation has been shared on social media surrounding the administration of the measles vaccine alluding to complications for children after receiving the vaccination. The Ministry of Education takes this opportunity to remind parents that for the entry of a child into primary school they must be fully vaccinated.
Principals are being reminded that an immunization record must be presented by all parents during registration. Minister Garcia took the opportunity to remind members of the public that the sharing of unfounded and misleading information can be detrimental in some instances and one such instance would be the case of vaccination.
The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health continue on with a strengthened partnership to ensure the health and safety of all students across Trinidad and Tobago.
