Look out for the launch of the new Mediation Mobile Unit which will allow thousands of persons in rural Trinidad increased access free mediation services. Dr. the Honourable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Minister of the Community Development, Culture and the Arts (MCDCA) will launch this innovative service on June 12th 2019, 10am at the foyer, National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA).
Over the past thirteen (13) years, the Community Mediation Services Division of the MCDCA has been serving communities through its eight mediation centres across Trinidad. However, based on data collected, it realized that many rural communities remained underserved, due to logistical and economic challenges.
The new buses will allow for the expansion of Mediation's programmes as well as outreach to rural communities across the country thereby increasing the number of persons accessing Social work, counselling, mediation, referrals, parenting support and other therapeutic services to individuals, families and communities.
These buses are the newest tools in the division’s kit in its quest to develop a state of harmony, and peace in our society.
