Labour Ministry hosts National Tripartite Stakeholder Consultation on retrenchment and severance benefits

May 17, 2016: The Ministry of Labour and Small Enterprise Development will host a National Tripartite Stakeholder Consultation on principles, policies and issues to be considered in the development of legislation to amend the Retrenchment and Severance Benefits Act, Chapter 88:13.

This Consultation will take place on Wednesday May 18 2016 at the National Energy Skills Centre, Cor. Rivulet & Southern Main Roads, Point Lisas, Couva from 9.00 A.M. TO 3.00 P.M.

 

The discussions will be centered on the following topics:

  • Definition of Redundancy;
  • Scope of Application of the Act;
  • Procedure for Retrenchment;
  • Contract Employment and the Act;
  • Rank of severance benefits at the closure of a company;

 

Media is invited to cover the opening on Wednesday May 18 2016 at 9.00am at the National Energy Skills Centre, Rivulet Road, Point Lisas Couva.
