The National Intellectual Property Training Centre (NIPTC) is the training tool that the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs (IPOTT) is developing in cooperation with the Geneva based World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to strengthen the provision of educational services in IP in Trinidad and Tobago. The academy will support Governments 2030 vision and its industrial and sectorial policies, programmes and initiatives especially in the development of the creative sectors: Mas, Fashion, Music, Film, Animation, Gaming, and in innovation with training for start-ups, Artificial Intelligence, patent mining and IP management.
The NIPTC is being established with Technical Assistance from the WIPO and with the cooperation of UWI St. Augustine, UTT and CARIRI. WIPO will assist in training the administrative staff and the teaching staff of the NIPTC, assist in the development of the IP national Library, with curriculum and the business plan.
The NIPTC at start-up will offer Introductory and Professional Development Courses in IP, later it will offer Diploma and Degree programmes.
