The Tripartite Committee established by Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. to identify, prioritise and propose measures to resolve issues within the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service met on Thursday July 18, 2019, at the Ministry of National Security Head Office on Abercromby Street in Port of Spain.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security Mr. Vel Lewis chaired the meeting and assured the Chief Fire Officer (Acting) Mr. Marlon Smith, President of the Fire Service Association Second Division Mr. Leo Ramkissoon and their respective teams that matters previously identified are being urgently addressed. The Permanent Secretary also noted that lines of communications between all parties remain open for the reporting of matters pertaining to the Fire Service.
The cordial and productive discussions included ongoing infrastructural improvements to fire stations in need of repair; acquisition of firefighting kits; as well as continued training and development for fire officers.
The Tripartite Committee membership comprises officials from the Head Office of the Ministry of National Security, the Fire Service Executive and the Fire Service Association Second Division.
The Ministry of National Security continues to work steadfastly to ensure a safer working environment for all members of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service.
