Suvan Subance, a 10-year-old pupil of the San Fernando TML Primary School, placed first in the regional Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association’s (FCCA) Poster Competition 2019.
Tourism Minister, the Honourable Randall Mitchell and staff of the Ministry congratulate Suvan, his family and his school on this outstanding achievement. “Well done, Suvan. “You have done your country proud and we all celebrate your success, with you” Minister Mitchell added.
Suvan’s piece was an ingenious rendering of a turtle in 3-D, depicting the theme of the competition, “Solutions for Ocean Pollution,” which seeks to promote and stimulate environmental awareness among Caribbean students and effectively educate the youths on the importance of environmental protection.
Suvan’s winning poster was initially judged by officials of the Ministry of Tourism and selected from amongst several entries, for submission to the FCCA.
The FCCA is a not-for-profit trade organization comprising representatives of 19 Cruise lines operating more than 100 vessels in Florida, the Caribbean and Latin American. Established in 1972, the FCCA’s mandate is to provide a forum for discussion on cruise operations, tourism development, ports, tour operations, safety, security and other cruise industry issues.
