Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. has urged new members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to conduct their duties fearlessly, serve with integrity and to always remember the oath to protect and serve with pride.
Minister Young made this statement as he delivered the feature address at the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Passing Out Parade for Batch 1 of 2019, held at the Police Training Academy, St. James on August 21, 2019.
Minister Young advised the new graduates to carry out their duties with professionalism and at all times seek “to stop corruption and criminality wherever they are found.” He told the graduates that as new members of the Police Service “a big part of your mandate is to take the fight to the corrupt elements across all sectors of Trinidad and Tobago.”
Minister Young also reminded the graduates that no one is above the law. The Minister encouraged the new police officers to recognize the importance of their role in national security, particularly in the area of the prevention, detection and investigation of crime in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the prosecution process.
Minister Young assured the new graduates and all members of the Police Service that they had the full support of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, which will continue to supply the Police Service with the requisite technology, equipment, infrastructure and other resources, so that the organization can carry out its responsibility to the people of Trinidad and Tobago, effectively and efficiently.
The Minister congratulated the ninety-eight (98) recruits on their successful completion of their induction training and welcomed them into the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and by extension the National Security family. Minister Young took the opportunity to thank all the men and women of Police Service for their dedication to duty and their selfless service to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
PC Humphrey received the award for scoring the highest marks in Defensive Tactics, and WPC Pierre was awarded the “Commissioner of Police” Trophy for Most Outstanding Recruit.
Also present at the Passing Out ceremony were Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, the Honourable Glenda Jennings-Smith; Commissioner of Police Mr. Gary Griffith; and other members of the Police Service Executive.
