May 22, 2016: Following bilateral meetings in Jamaica, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, His Excellency Nicolás Maduro Moros arrived at the South Terminal, Piarco International Airport in Trinidad and Tobago on the night of May 22, 2016.
Upon his arrival, President Maduro was greeted by the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses; Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, the Honourable Nicole Olivierre; and Venezuelan Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency Coromoto Godoy Calderon.
During his one day working visit on May 23, the Venezuelan President is expected to visit with the President and Commander in Chief, His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona before heading to the Diplomatic Centre to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and a TT delegation.
President Maduro is accompanied by First Lady Cilia Flores and a ministerial delegation including the Minister of the People’s Power for Industry and Commerce, His Excellency Miguel Perez Abad; Minister of Foreign Affairs Her Excellency Delcy Rodriguez; Vice-Minister for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, His Excellency Alexander Yánez Deleuze; and Minister of Petroleum and Mining, His Excellency Eulogio Del Pino.
Enhancing bilateral cooperation between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago in areas of energy, trade and foreign policy amongst others will be the focal point of the discussions throughout the visit.
President Maduro and his delegation are expected to leave the country on the evening of May 23.
