May 27, 2016: The Ministry of Education wishes to advise that the Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education will be attending the meeting of the Finance and General Purposes Committee of The University of the West Indies in Barbados scheduled to take place on Friday 27th May, 2016.
Minister Garcia is the Government’s representative on the Finance and General Purposes Committee of The University of the West Indies which is a Standing Committee of the Council of The University of the West Indies. This Committee exercises powers in matters related to the receipt and expenditure of The University’s finances.
Minister Garcia is expected to discuss the future of UWI’s Penal/Debe Campus, and will also meet with new UWI Principal, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Brian Copeland, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles.
The one-day meeting will see participation from representatives of several campuses and non-campus countries and the Guild of Students of the University.
