Reconstitution of the Boiler Examiners Board

Senator the Honourable Jennifer Baptiste-Primus, Minister of Labour and Small Enterprise Development presented letters of appointment to Members to the Boiler Examiners Board at the Ministry’s Head Office on Tuesday 22nd October, 2019. This Committee is responsible for matters relating to the Boilers Regulations under the Factories Ordinance Chapter 30, No. 2, which was preserved by virtue of Section 98(2) of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act, Chapter 88:08.

The Board is also responsible for developing rules or notes for the guidance of Boiler Examiners and competent persons in the following areas:

  • Making an examination of air pressure containers
  • Recommending fees for the examination of boilers and air pressure containers to the Minister
  • Suspending the licence of boiler examiners and competent persons to examine air pressure containers in the event of a dereliction of duty.

Minister Baptiste-Primus expressed her appreciation to all the Members who agreed to serve and paid special commendation to the re-appointed Chairperson of the Committee, Mr. Roger Camacho. Members were charged with the responsibility to amend and update regulations during the Board’s three year term. Minister concluded by conveying her confidence in the Board and remains optimistic that the Board would continue to shape and impact safety and health in the workplace.
