May 31, 2016: Ten villages are set to benefit from new play parks when the construction programme resumes.
The programme is currently awaiting budgetary approval for the next group of parks to be constructed, Secretary of Agriculture, Marine Affairs, Marketing and the Environment revealed.
He was speaking at the latest instalment of the Tobago House of Assembly’s Face to Face Community Meeting Series in the Bethel/Mt Irvine electoral district. The disclosure was made after Bethel resident, Yvette Neptune called for a play park to give the community’s youth a safe space for positive activities.
The meeting was the eighth stop in the 2016 community meeting series, which allows villagers to voice their concerns, make recommendations and to get an update of developmental works in their respectives areas.
Also at the meeting, retired Infrastructure Division worker Mary Toby lamented the long wait for Assembly pensioners to receive their monthly payments.
Chief Secretary Orville London, who chaired the meeting, advised that a committee, headed by Chief Administrator Raye Sandy, is currently looking at ways to expedite those payments.
