Port of Spain: Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. hosted a meeting on November 25, 2019, with a team from the Embassy of the United States of America in Trinidad and Tobago (U.S. Embassy), to discuss matters related to the repatriation and reintegration of Trinidad and Tobago nationals who have left this country to travel to conflict zones abroad.
Minister Young also discussed with the U.S. Embassy team the provision of technical support to the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago via the facilitation of a training workshop on the Repatriation and Reintegration of Returnees. The workshop will focus on the sharing of best practices, social services implementation, policy considerations and the enhancement of a framework in which civil society can support the efforts of the State.
Minister Young welcomed the opportunity to meet with the U.S. team and reiterated his commitment to advancing bilateral security cooperation to ensure the safety and security of all persons in Trinidad and Tobago.
Leading discussions on behalf of the U.S. team was Colonel Claudia Carrizales, Chief of the Military Liaison Office, U.S. Embassy to Trinidad and Tobago. Also present at the meeting were the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Commodore Darryl Daniel, Deputy Director of International Affairs at the Ministry of National Security, Major (Ret’d) Richard Lynch and other United States Embassy officials.
