Incoming Minister in the Ministry of Planning and Development, the Honourable Cherrie-Ann Crichlow-Cockburn got off to a running start on her first day in the new Ministry on Wednesday December 8, 2020. The new Minister in the Ministry officially took up office on Level 14 of the Eric Williams Finance Building.
Minister Crichlow-Cockburn received a large brief on the work of the Planning Ministry to date from the Permanent Secretary, which she set off to read immediately, before officially meeting with the Ministry’s Executive, comprising Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Joanne Deoraj; Deputy Permanent Secretary Mrs. Ayleen Ovid; Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Ric Javed Ali and Human Resources Director Ms. Melanie Noel.
Minister Crichlow-Cockburn expressed her readiness to work with the staff of the Ministry of Planning and Development to continue achieving the goals of Trinidad and Tobago’s National Development Strategy, VISION 2030 and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) all towards the sustainable development and prosperity of the citizens of T&T.
Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley is the Minister of Planning and Development, announced on Tuesday December 31, 2019.
Prime Minister Rowley will work with Minister Crichlow-Cockburn to drive the work of the Ministry which involves et al supporting the national statistical system through the Central Statistical Office (CSO); managing the environmental well-being of T&T through the Environmental Policy & Planning Division (EPPD), the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), the Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) and other external institutions. Also included in this portfolio is the Town & Country Planning Division which manages spatial and land development as well as all of our agreements with the European Union (EU), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United Nations (UN), as well as the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
