September 20, 2016: The Trinidad and Tobago Regiment will be hosting its third quarterly March and Shoot Competition for 2016 on Wednesday 21 September 2016. The competition which begins from 11:00 am starts at Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, Staubles Bay, and the teams will proceed along the Western Main Road, then North alongTucker Valley Road, and ends at the Shooting Range, Macqueripe.
The March and Shoot competition will be a team event and each Company/Squadron, and the Regiment Headquarters the will field teams. The Defence Force Headquarters is invited to field teams as well. The competition tests the endurance of soldiers as they run nine (9) miles dressed in full Battle gears, complete with their rifles.
The aim of this competition is to improve the Regiment’s fitness level and marksmanship capabilities, as soldiers practice the core and basic skills, build competence and confidence in the execution of these skills, create friendly rivalry, and build camaraderie and esprit de corps and to accumulate points to count towards the Champion Company and Champion Battalion. The winning team will be the team scoring the most points overall in the march, shoot and inspection.
A formal prize giving ceremony will follow after the completion of the competition to present trophies and medals to the various competitors and the Challenge Trophy to the winning Company/Squadron/Formation.
