October 7, 2016: Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has expressed grave concern and empathy for the citizens of Haiti, in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew which pounded the country on Tuesday (October 4).

It has been reported in the media that some four hundred (400) Haitians perished as a result of the hurricane and countless others have been displaced and made destitute. The Prime Minister is calling on the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to remember our Caribbean brothers and sisters at this time.

Additionally, the Government is currently in touch with our other CARICOM neighbours with a view to giving consideration to how best we may assist Haiti, even in light of our own challenging circumstances.
