October 10, 2016: MPAC and India discuss ICT and other areas of technical co-operation greater technical co-operation between Trinidad and Tobago and India was among the issues discussed by the Honourable Maxie Cuffie, the Minister of Public Administration and Communications and the High Commissioner of India, His Excellency Bishwadip Dey.
Minister Cuffie indicated that opportunities for co-operation and expertise-sharing existed in a number of areas, particularly ICT, which has great potential for advancing the development goals of Trinidad and Tobago. The Republic of India already provides technical assistance in terms of training and capacity building through the Indian Technical and Economic Co-operation (ITEC) programme. The programme offers nationals of this country access to training in India, which can further support the diversification of Trinidad and Tobago’s economy.
High Commissioner Dey extended an invitation to Minister Cuffie to attend the local ITEC meeting scheduled for later this year, as an opportunity for the Minister to interact with local beneficiaries of the programme.
Minister Cuffie pledged to continue working closely with the Indian High Commission with a view to deepening the already cordial and productive relationship that exists between both countries.
The two met on 7th October, 2016 at the Ministry’s office.
