October 18, 2016: The progress of girls is important for the island through families, communities and society. That is why the Scarborough Library Facility will host “a workshop for our female secondary school students to grow and enhance their entrepreneurial spirit” said the Secretary of the Division of Education, Youth Affairs and Sport, THA, Mr. Huey Cadette.

The workshop is being held in honour of the fifth edition of International Day of the Girl Child, which was celebrated on October 11 under the theme: ‘Girls’ Progress = Goals’ Progress: What Counts for Girls’. The event takes place today October 18th from 10 a.m.

The International Day of the Girl Child focuses on “the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights”.
