October 19, 2016: The Honourable Darryl Smith, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, will on Thursday October 20th, 2016, give the opening remarks at a Stakeholders’ Workshop on Sports Disputes Resolution entitled “Staying in Your Lane,” at the Radisson Hotel, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, at 4.00 pm.

The Seminar is being hosted by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and is part of the process of stakeholder outreach with a view to establish a local Sports Disputes Tribunal.

In November 2015, while speaking at a media launch of the National Gas Company’s extension of their “Right On Track” initiative with the National Association of Athletics Associations (NAAA) and the National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago (NBFTT), the Honourable Minister called on the National Governing Bodies (NGB’s) and other interested parties, to desist from airing their disputes in public. The Sports Disputes Tribunal will be an independent body and will specialise in the resolution of sports-related disputes out of court.
