October 21, 2016: Thousands showed for Tobago’s annual celebration of World Food Day, internationally marked on 16th October. The two-day (October 19-20) annual exhibition, held at the Dwight Yorke Stadium Parade Ground, has become a staple on the Tobago calendar.
Themed “Climate is Changing, Food and Agriculture Must Too”, the event highlights the importance of farmers and their role in achieving food security. It also provides a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their skill.
Owner of Just Cool Business, Nyomi Johnny, produces natural fruit juices said: “I really enjoy World Food Day, because it’s a time where a lot of us, we come together, form all different types of businesses,
we come together, and are able to merge our stuff and celebrate Tobago and what Tobago has.”
The event, hosted by the Division of Agriculture, Marine Affairs, Marketing and the Environment attracts a wide demographic of people, including school children who learn about Tobago’s natural resources.
