November 15, 2016: Tobago’s youth are being encouraged to make good choices and avoid negative behaviours. That’s the aim of Cognitive Social Intervention Programme, an initiative of the Citizens Security Programme (CSP). The Programme is themed “Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life”.
Ann-Marie DeGazon, Community Action Officer with the CSP, said the programme is helping at-risk youth address their behavioural issues. DeGazon said: “It provides young persons ways or techniques that they can use to assist them with more reason in their decision making, so that they’re no longer responding to feelings and impulsive behaviours and tendencies that many young people, and even adults, can
have.”
One of several topics to be covered by the programme is self-awareness, where the participant will explore their thoughts and feelings. DeGazon said sometimes those thoughts and feelings can lead to
aggression, and the initiative is aimed at eliminating violent behaviour.
