Agriculture Minister receives visits from EU Ambassador and FAO Forestry experts

February 3, 2017: Agriculture, Land and Fisheries Minister, Senator the Honourable Clarence Rambharat met with His Excellency Arend Biesebroek, Ambassador and Plenipotenciary and Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on Monday January 30, 2017 at his St Clair office. 

The Minister noted that ‘it is in our mutual interest that we work together’ and His Excellency reminded that the EU‘has always been active in the agriculture sector’ in Trinidad and Tobago. The hour long meeting saw both officials talking about agro-processing, youth in agriculture, innovation; legislative and policy support, competitiveness, diversification, fisheries, climate change, the honey sector, forestry, among other.

Thereafter, the Minister Rambharat met with Mr. Claus-Martin Eckelmann, Regional Forestry Officer for the Caribbean of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and Mrs. Neila Bobb-Prescott, Chief Technical Advisor, Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.  The discussions are focused on technical guidance and oversight for the conduct of a National Forestry Inventory.

 

In discussions: Minister Rambharat with His Excellency  Arend Biesebroek, Ambassador and Plenipotenciary and Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
