April 18, 2016: Planning and Development Minister, the Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis invites representatives of your media house to the appointment of the board of the Advisory Town Planning Panel on Wednesday April 20 at 9:30 am. This event will take place on Level 20 in the La Lune room of the Eric Williams Finance building, Independence Square, Port of Spain.

The Town and Country Planning Act Chapter 35:01 of the Laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago charges the Minister responsible for Town and Country Planning with the duty to secure consistency and continuity in the framing and execution of a comprehensive policy with respect to the use and development of all land in the country. The Advisory Town Planning Panel was established under the Town and Country Planning Act for advising the Minister on any matter within their knowledge or on which the Minister may seek advice.
In accordance with the provisions of the First Schedule of the said Act, the Panel shall consist of not less than three (3) nor more than five (5) members who are appointed by the Minister for a period not exceeding two (2) years.
The core functions of the Panel include:-
• Reviewing and providing recommendations to the Minister on matters regarding:
- Decisions made on applications for planning permissions to develop lands;
- Complaints against unauthorized development, and
- Enforcement of planning control
• Advising the Minister on any land use planning and land development matters.
The Panel is a representative of minds which are not only au courant with Planning Development within the ambit of Trinidad and Tobago, but also it reflects that Sector of the National Community which has vested interest in National Development.
