The Ministry of Health commends the collaborative efforts of the dedicated staff of the Ministry of Health, and other key Public Sector agencies, which guaranteed the successful rescue of campers, including a pregnant woman and a diabetic male, who were marooned in Madamas Bay, Matelot.
On Tuesday 30th January, 2018 officers attached to the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) and the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) were informed of several persons who were stranded at Madamas Bay. The public health response mechanism was quickly mobilized and the relevant health facilities were placed on alert.
Two of the campers who required immediate medical attention were airlifted to the Sangre Grande Recreational Ground where they were immediately met by a medical team from the ERHA. The patients were subsequently transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital. Concurrently, the BlanchisseuseHealth Centre prepared to receive eleven patients who were treated for a range of minor injuries. The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce that all patients were treated, as necessary, and discharged.

Collaborative efforts such as these are tangible examples of the effectiveness of the whole of Government approach to the provision of services to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
