The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) advises customers in parts of North East Trinidad, who are experiencing a disruption in their pipe borne water supply that this is due to the continued impact of recent heavy rainfall on operations at some of its water treatment facilities. In particular, the Matura, Guanapo and Quare Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) remain out of operation due to turbid river conditions and clogged intake screens.
Areas affected include: Matura, Valencia and parts of Arima.
The Authority expects that these remaining facilities will be returned to service over the next 24 hours, once river conditions normalize at the various locations.
