It is with deepest appreciation and heartfelt thanks that I as your Minister of Health express my sincere gratitude to all Public Health Care workers who demonstrated courage and stayed the course, going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety and continuity of care of all patients, following the earthquake that shook the country on the evening of August 21, 2018.
The teamwork and collaboration demonstrated was admirable and commendable, and has earned the respect of a grateful Nation.
I acknowledge that healthcare workers are the backbone of the healthcare delivery system. In this context, the call of Unions for workers to engage in a day of “rest and reflection” on Friday September 7, 2018 is noted with concern. Given the duty and commitment to care demonstrated over the past two (2) weeks by healthcare workers, I am confident that they will continue to put first, the well-being of the sick and vulnerable who entrust their lives and health to them, and that they will continue to demonstrate their excellence and professionalism in the execution of their duties.
I, on behalf of the Government and People of Trinidad and Tobago, thank all health care workers for their continued loyalty and commitment to the essential and important service they provide.
