National Security Minister meets with Police Service Social and Welfare Association

Today, Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart Young, M.P. and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of National Security the Honourable Glenda Jennings-Smith, M.P. attended a meeting with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association at the Association’s headquarters at Fourth Floor, Riverside Plaza, Besson Street, Port of Spain.

Representing the Association were President Ag. ASP Michael Seales; Vice President Ag. Snr. Supt. Richard Corbett; Secretary Ag. ASP Anand Ramesar; Assistant Secretary Ag. W/Cpl. Cynthia Trim; Treasurer Sgt. Joshua Pierre; Trustees Insp. Ian Carty, Ag. ASP Raymond Thom and First Division Officer Supt. Wayne Mohammed, and Protocol Officer Mr. David Lewis.

The meeting which lasted for about an hour and a half was very productive. The discussion surrounded a number of matters affecting the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and its Officers. The Minister addressed the issues raised and thanked the officers for the opportunity to meet. Minister Young indicated that he looks forward to the continuation of the relationship with the TTPS as it is essential that the Ministry and the TTPS work together to ensure the safety and security of the Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Association told the Minister and the Parliamentary Secretary that it recognized and took seriously its responsibilities to the Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago and it was not participating in or supporting the actions being called for by various trade unions on Friday 7 September, 2018.

Minister Young looks forward to achieving some of the goals set in the meeting and assisting the Police Service going forward.
