May 4, 2016: The role of volunteers in society cannot be understated. That’s why Chief Secretary Orville London is urging non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to continue making a difference.

London made the statement on May 3 at his THA Office where he distributed cheques to four NGOs: the Moriah Police Youth Club, the Legends Athletic Football Club, the Tobago United Spiritual Baptist Assembly and the Reloaded Steel Ensemble.

“Look not at the quantum of the support,” London stated, “but rather at the signal that it sends about the relationship that has to exist between the Assembly, NGO’s, churches, sporting organisations and community groups…”.

“I want on behalf of the people of Tobago to commend you all for your contributions at various levels in various communities”.

The Chief Secretary also thanked the groups for the work they have done to the island’s benefit.
