The Ministry of Education (MOE), in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and Notesmaster.Com commenced training for thirty six (36) teachers, as part of a Curriculum Writers Training and Content Development Project on Monday 4th February, 2019.

The project provides for the training of teachers to develop ICT-integrated lessons for use in schools based on nine (9) subject areas of the Secondary School Curriculum and three (3) areas of the Primary School Curriculum. This initiative coincides seamlessly with the Ministry’s 5 Star ICT Plan which includes the training of teachers to integrate ICT into their teaching and learning methodologies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Lenor Baptiste-Simmons said Trinidad & Tobago is grateful for the assistance from the COL to help countries such as ours to expand the scope, scale and quality of learning by introducing new technologies and innovative approaches.

“Trinidad and Tobago is one of only a few countries selected as beneficiaries of this unique initiative, the others being Vanuatu, Mozambique and Malawi. The Ministry expresses gratitude to the Commonwealth of Learning for providing teachers this opportunity,” she said.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the Memorandum of Agreement between COL and the MOE for this project provides full funding for the one year initiative and COL will also provide a small stipend for the teachers selected for this project.

Permanent secretary, Lenor Baptiste-Simmons implored the 36 teachers, which included four teachers from Tobago to grasp this opportunity with both hands and to remain committed and productive throughout the period of the project.

Subsequent to the initial training, teachers will work on their own time, collaborating online with Notesmaster.Com for continued training and guidance as they gain competencies in e-learning content development.

The entire project spans a twelve-month period from February 2019 - January 2020 and teachers will be credited for their work and will also receive certification by Notesmaster. Com and the Ministry of Education.
