Ghanaian President accompanied by Minister Young to lay wreath

Minister of National Security, Communications and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister the Honourable Stuart Young and His Excellency Nan Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo President of the Republic of Ghana today paid tribute to members of the Commonwealth armed forces who died in the line of duty in World Wars I & II.

The event at Memorial Park earlier today June 13, 2019 was the first on His Excellency’s calendar since his arrival in Trinidad and Tobago last night for a State Visit from June 13 to June 14, 2019.
The laying of the wreath is done to remember members of the Commonwealth armed forces who died in the line of duty. The wreath-laying is traditionally done on Remembrance Day; however, it is also done by all visiting Heads of State.
Both Trinidad and Tobago and Ghana are members of the Commonwealth.

Minister Young and the Ghanian Head of State greeted students from Holy Name Convent who gathered to witness the wreath-laying.
The Ghanaian President is expected to meet with President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes and hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley.
In 2016 Trinidad and Tobago signed a General Cooperation Agreement with the Government of Ghana. A Memorandum of Understanding on joint identification and development of commercially viable natural gas projects was also signed by Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the National Gas Company (NGC) on that occasion.

Trinidad and Tobago has significant trade and business ties with Ghana which includes Republic Bank (Ghana) Limited.
