The Honourable Camille Robinson-Regis, Minister of Planning and Development is stating for public information that according to the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) 2019 Latin American and the Caribbean Macroeconomic Report, growth for the Region in 2018 was just 1.2% and is expected to pick up to just 2% in 2019 and 2.5% in 2020.
In light of this, climate change, resilience to natural disasters, private sector performance, how these factors impact the Region’s economic outlook and other challenges as well as opportunities for development of Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean region will be at the centre of the 60th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the IDB, to be held in Guayaquil, Ecuador from July 16 to 17. The economic and financial leaders of the IDB’s 48 member countries, of which Trinidad and Tobago is included, will be in attendance at this Meeting. Minister Robinson-Regis, in her capacity as the IDB Governor for Trinidad and Tobago, will head a delegation representing T&T. The other members of this delegation are Ms. Melisa Bertrand, Advisor from the Ministry of Planning and Development and Ms. Terry Ann Atkins-Huggins, Counsellor for Trinidad and Tobago at the IDB.
