This week, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs distributed a grand total of $7,476,047 in funding for the development of sport and high performance sport in Trinidad and Tobago.
On Wednesday 24 July, the Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, hosted the Ministry’s Rewards, Recognition and Cheque Distribution Ceremony, which was held at the National Racquet Centre, in Tacarigua.
At this ceremony $2,860,000 was distributed in Rewards and Incentives in keeping with the Government’s recent National Sport Policy (2017-2027). Minister Cudjoe also presented $438,102 to Elite Athletes and other Individual Athletes. In addition, National Governing Bodies (NGBs) received $409,250 and $ 1,024,327 was presented to Community Groups.
Today (Friday 26 July, 2019), eight (8) additional NGBs were presented with $2,744,368 in funding. Prior to the presentation of cheques, which took place at the Ministry’s Head Office in St. Clair, Minister Cudjoe thanked the NGBs for their hard work and dedication. She also encouraged each NGB to continue to develop their respective sporting discipline, while promoting participation both at the high performance level and the development level within schools and communities.
