May 25, 2016: Peter Nkaya and Mary Beasley emerged the winners of the inaugural Tobago International Sea to Sea Marathon in Tobago.
Nkaya, a Kenyan based in Mexico, finished the feature race of the two-day event—a 26.2-mile run from the Rainforest Reserve near Bloody Bay—in two hours, 43 minutes and 13 seconds.
The race ended at Petit Trou Beach. Second was Didimo Sanchez of Venezuela, while Tobago-born Curtis Cox finished third. Among the women, Beasley emerged the winner, stopping the clock at 03:07:31, with Trinidad and Tobago’s Tonya Nero (03:09:09) second among the women and seventh overall. Another Venezuelan, Alexis Peña, won the half marathon, which began in Goodwood in exactly one hour, 16 minutes. Yeisy Alvarez of Venezuela was the female winner.
The 10K was won by Kenyan Kenneth Rotich, with Alvarez the female winner, and the 5K went to 19-year-old Iley Bruce of Trinidad and Tobago.
