March 16, 2016: Virtually everyone loves technology. Using Skype, Facebook, email, and other such applications is a skill that many take for granted.
But 63 Tobagonians were proud of what they learnt at the Senior Citizens Computer Literacy Programme, after graduating last week at the Scarborough Library Facility.
Head Librarian at the Facility Helen Johnson said the programme is part of the Library’s thrust for all-inclusive learning. She said this is also based on the interest expressed by senior citizens to learn about computers. The experience certainly impressed Carlyle Jordan, one of the participants of the six-week programme.
“The programme content was well planned,” Jordan said. “You could identify the critical areas that the elder people would like to do. We stop writing long letters, so what you do send an email and you did not see your grandchild for a month, you go on Skype and see them grow and it really fitting into living our life.”
