Port of Spain: The human resource complement of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment was further strengthened on Saturday December 21, 2019 as one hundred and twenty (120) recruits were inducted into the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force formation.

Speaking at the Passing Out Parade for the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment Recruit Intake 1901 held at Teteron Barracks in Chaguaramas, Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. extended congratulations to the recruits for choosing to enter into a career of noble service to the country.

Minister Young encouraged the recruits to “move forward with the sense of conviction expected of your respectable profession, never find yourselves in situations that compromise your integrity and never bring the uniform into disrepute. Always serve with an upright character, decorum and dedication”. He reiterated that the Ministry of National Security continues to value the indispensable contribution that the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force consistently make to ensure the defence and security of the people of our country, especially through the organisation’s support of law enforcement by way of joint patrols with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the instructors of the Army Learning Centre (ALC) for the role they play in the development of the human resources of the Regiment and in shaping the future leaders of the Defence Force.

Minister Young restated that the Ministry of National Security is pursuing efforts to strengthen the assets of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force by way of the upgrade of military infrastructure, construction, upgrade and refurbishment of facilities and accommodation for members of our Regiment. Recent initiatives included the commissioning of the new ALC Leadership Institute for Excellence (L.I.F.E.) Building at Teteron Barracks, and the start of construction of new living accommodations for the Second Infantry Battalion of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment at Camp La Romaine.

Addressing the newest members of his troops, Commanding Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment Colonel Darnley Wyke, told them that they now form part of the robust and dynamic national defence and security architecture, entrusted with ensuring the safety of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. He urged the recruits to conduct themselves in a manner which will not bring dishonour to the Regiment; further advising them to always be guided by the core values of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment – Courage, Loyalty, Integrity, Mutual Respect, Discipline and Teamwork.

The recruits, having now completed their induction training, will be posted to the Regiment’s First and Second Infantry Battalions, the First Engineer Battalion and the Support and Service Battalion.
