Participants representing twenty-one (21) Government Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Centres throughout Trinidad and Tobago successfully participated in a social and emotional intelligence-training workshop during the period December 16th to 17th, 2019.
The 'Think Equal' Project, which was officially launched on Monday 16th December, 2019 at the St. Augustine North Government ECCE Centre will be piloted in twenty-one (21) ECCE Centres throughout the country at the start of the new school term.
The Project is closely aligned to the ECCE Curriculum and will focus on the development of 21st Century skills in the areas of Creativity, Communication, Collaboration and Critical Thinking necessary for Lifelong Learning and Development.
The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education says, “this project is testimony to the efforts of the Ministry of Education to ensure the there is effective governance and administration of the education system at all levels. Collaboration such as these with external stakeholders is to ensure access to educational opportunities by all learners and that quality education is provided at all levels starting in the ECCE sector."
The 'Think Equal' Project will run for a period of 30 weeks and staff and children from these ECCE Centres would be provided with learning materials for the implementation of the programme.
Think Equal is an international project currently being implemented in seven (7) countries throughout the world and Trinidad and Tobago is the first country in the Caribbean to benefit from this project. It is being done in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago National Commission for UNESCO, an agency of the Ministry of Education.
