Port-of-Spain, January 17th, 2020: The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health conducted a walk-through of the St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital today. Also in attendance were: Deputy Permanent Secretary, Margaret Morales; Chief Executive Officer of the North West Regional Health Authority, Terron Gilchrist; National Administrator-Nursing Services, Betty-Ann Pilgrim; and Director of the St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital, Dr. Samuel Shafe.
The Minister expressed his gratitude and distributed tokens of appreciation to the nurses for their contribution and continuous hard work. While there is still much work to be done to break the stigma surrounding behavioural health, the Minister believes that it is important to encourage our behavioural health experts to continue to do their part to reduce this perception.
The Ministry of Health remains committed to providing quality behavioural health care to the Trinidad and Tobago population.
